Nicole is the daughter of Steve and Michelle Vogt. She was born and raised in Kansas, moving to Texas after college for a job at AOS Engineering. She currently lives and trains in Dallas during the summer months and spends her winters wherever there is a bobsled track.

High School

Vogt attended Maize High School in Maize, Kansas, and was an honor student and athlete. She participated in volleyball, basketball and track all four years. As a senior, she was named to the Second Team All-State volleyball team and placed top 6 in discus, shot put and javelin at the Kansas High School State track meet.

College

Nicole was recruited to the Kansas State Women's Rowing team her senior year of high school. Head coach Patrick Sweeney, a six time Olympic competitor and coach, gives Kansas girls with athleticism, a good work ethic and an openness to be challenged mentally a chance to compete as Division I athletes. Vogt wanted to attend Kansas State for her education and jumped at the opportunity to learn a new sport and continue competing.

After redshirting her freshman year to learn the sport, Vogt began competing in the 1st Novice 8+ boat her sophomore year. They went on to become the 2007 NCAA South/Central Regional 1st Novice 8+ Champions. The next 3 seasons, Nicole competed in the 1st Varsity 8+ boat. The 2008-09 season was the best in school history, with the varsity crew winning their first ever Big XII Championship title. She was named a College Rowing Coaches Association National Scholar Athlete in all four of her competitive seasons and named to the Conference USA All-Academic Team her final season.

Bobsled

Nicole became involved with the sport of bobsled following the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympic Games. She was looking for another competitive outlet after college and saw most of the Olympians competing were cross-over athletes from other collegiate sports. Vogt researched the sport and sent in a sports resume on the USA Bobsled and Skeleton Federation (USABS) website. She was invited to attend a combine and later the 2011 National Push Championships in Lake Placid, New York.

Vogt retired after the 2022-23 season, concluding her career on her most successful season competing on the World Cup Tour across Europe, Canada and the USA. She competed her first season as a brakeman on the North American Cup racing circuit. At the end of the 2011-12 season, she attended an International Bobsleigh and Skeleton Federation (IBSF) driving school in Lake Placid. Nicole then made the switch to the driver's seat and began competing as a pilot on the North American Cup tour. Nicole continued to compete and improve on the North American Cup tour, winning her first gold medal in the 2014-2015 season. The following year, she earned a spot on the National team as USA-3 and competed in her first World Cup races. Nicole finished the 2018 Olympic season as the 4th ranked women's sled for Team USA, with only the top 2 sleds qualifying a spot to compete in Pyeongchang. The following season she made her second National Team and took 9th place in her first World Championships. With her sites set on Beijing, Nicole continued to train hard and work for a bid to represent Team USA in the 2022 Olympics in China, again finishing as the 4th ranked women's sled for Team USA with only 2 sleds qualifying for the Beijing Olympics. Nicole made the decision to compete for a final season in 2022-23 and ended her career on a high note with World Cup ranking of 7th place in monobob and 8th place in 2-woman.
